Sometimes we look at places in our homes and think it is time to remodel. Before you actually do that try doing things that can help go green and maybe change the appearance of it. Most of the time children's bathrooms can be such a mess and possibly start turning green if we don't keep an eye out on them. "Going green" in your kid's bathroom is a different story. Turn your kid's bathroom into an eco-friendly room so they are educated on eco-friendly techniques and cleanliness. There are a good few tips and ideas for keeping your kid's bathroom eco-friendly.
Kids do not think about things like not dripping water all over the floor, and they might not be accurate in spitting things into the sink. So lots of random germs and bacteria have the opportunity to landing on the floor more likely than an adult bathroom. The flooring in your kid's bathroom is going to be dirtier than any other bathroom in your home. Especially if they are teenagers! Do not put carpeting in the bathroom. It is silly, and can become moldy and dirty. Bathroom rugs and mats are optimal for kids because they can be easily thrown in the laundry machine or hosed down outside. Mats that are made out of material like bamboo are eco-friendly and safe for the bathroom environment. Bamboo can be used for anything in a go-green sense. Flooring, tiles, and anything else that needs a strong wood type structure. It can be used in many forms around your home.
When the floors become too dirty, gunky and almost infected with something, it is time to clean the bathroom. Using chemicals that are not harsh and can be used around kids is important. If you are noticing a place in the floor or even walls that always seems wet or very dirty you might want to consider calling a professional to take a look at it. There might be a leak that can cause molds and bacteria build up that can make your kids sick. Worst case scenario you remodel your bathroom to fix that issue. Kids tend to get sick a lot easier than adults. So it is important to watch for leaks.
Fans are a key to good ventilation in a bathroom. If there isn't one and you have a window, that works too. Ventilation in the bathroom is important. A nice window that has a soft breeze can help. Having ventilation in your kid's bathroom will help cut down on bacteria growing and mold. A ceiling fan is a good idea for a nice ventilated bathroom. Fans should be installed in every bathroom in your home to help prevent mold growing. The best bet to go with though is cracking a window slightly and letting the nice fresh air in. Kids usually don't pay attention to much to the temperature of the air coming in so if it is in the summer time, monitor the window so your nice air conditioned air doesn't escape!
It is very important to teach your kids the importance of hygiene and cleanliness. The most important thing about showing them how to clean things properly is how to do it right. Doing it the right way the first time will help maintain the structure and integrity of bathroom appliances. This way you have a longer life span of sinks, showers, toilets, and other bathroom amenities. Making sure your floor doesn't build up with dirt and a bacterium that can't be removed is the key to not having to remodel your bathroom sooner than later.
