Students will use the following activities to review the color wheel/theory that they have learned in previous art classes. With this knowledge they will begin to incorporate their color theory into simple sketches on their handheld. The program that they will use will help them learn the importance of using layers, which will help when the students begin work with Photoshop.
Students will review the basic concepts of Primary, Secondary and Tertiary colors.
Students will be able to answer multiple questions on the color theory.
Students will be able to create works that reflect their knowledge of color.
Students will have complete understanding of the importance of working with layers.

Beam Slideshow To Go to all students.
Have the students open up Slideshow To Go and read the information on color.
Explain that there are blank slides that the students will have to try and fill in with the information that was provided throughout the show.
After the students have had a chance to complete the task. Pull up the completed PowerPoint and review the correct answers.

As the teacher demos the beginning portion of this program students are to follow along.
Create a new image database by choosing NEW. Name it COLOR PRACTICE and then hit CREATE.
Select COLOR PRACTICE from the list. Now the students are ready to begin.
Have the students watch as you show them all the tricks of TealPaint. Reinstate the use of LAYERS throughout the presentation.
Explain the assignment. The students are to create three different backgrounds. Each background must use at least three layers. One background must be done in analogous colors, one in cool colors, and one in warm colors.
Students must also create one character, (made of any color – I suggest neutral) that will be put into each of the environments that were created. It must be the SAME character. This way it makes them learn to cut, paste, add layers, and resize objects.
Students will then share their project with the rest of the class and discuss the color themes that they used and what kinds of issues they had when using layers.
