Students will practice running and jumping.
Students are divided into four groups with five students in each group. (If class size is larger, add another group.)
Activities
Each group will line up beside a cone.
Each group will have a group leader.
The group leader will stand beside a designated cone placed on the line on one end of the gym floor.
Group members will stand behind their group leaders.
Ten feet in front of each group leader will be a column of four cones on the opposite end of the gym.
On the “Go” signal, beginning with the group leader of each group, students will jump rope while running to the cones. Once at the cones, the student continues to jump rope while zigzagging between the cones until reaching the last cone. They will go around the last cone and return to their team while jumping rope and zigzag around each cone until the last ten feet. They will continue to run while jumping with the rope until they cross the line where their group is waiting.
Once they cross the line the next group member will immediately begin running and jumping with the rope traveling the same pattern, until the last person in the group has had an opportunity to run, jump and zigzag between the cones and back.
At the end of the activity, students will line up behind their group leaders with their right hand out.
Each group will walk by the other touching hands and saying “Good game.”
